Hi and welcome, everyone! Lisa from In The Crafting Cave with you today! Last year I was asked to create a few centerpieces for A Warriors On The Water Committee Dinner to be held at my parents home. So I created five of these fantastic JGW MY Hero 3D Combat Boots stuffed them with white shredded crinkle paper and inserted two American Flags. These five boots turned into 75 boots when I was asked to create 70 more for this year's Icebreaker held here at Sports, USA - Ft. Bragg, NC.
Warriors On The Water is a Military Appreciation Bass Fishing Tournament. It's a day when 150+ Soldiers are paired with Bass Fishermen to spend a day fishing and a chance to win some fabulous prizes. Even more than that, it is a day that someone says to them..."Thank You for your sacrifices!".
The Icebreaker is held on the Wednesday night before the Friday Tournament. It's a night of fun for the Military Men and Women who attend as well as for our volunteers and fishermen. They expect over 400 people to be in attendance and will have guest speakers from the Military representing all branches whose troops are fishing the event. The fishermen will be paired up with their Military counterparts and have a chance to talk strategy for the big tournament on Friday.

Lisa this is just amazing! Every man in my family has served, my father-in-law is one of the few surviving WWII vets. Thank you for this wonderful tribute!

DeleteCyndy, thank you. My hubby served 20+ years Infantry, both of my grandfather's served and two of my uncles. On my hubby side, same thing. We love our military! My proudest moments(and hardest) in life were watching my hubby leave and watching him come home.

ReplyDeleteDon't think anything I ever will see using one of my designs will EVER equal this. Simply too incredible for words. I will be showing this post to all my "teasers" who continue to think that my turn away from my quilting roots to "that paper stuff" is so hard to understand and accept. I never did have one of my quilting designs reproduced 75 times to honor military heroes! I am thrilled, and very teary, and can't say thank you enough to you, Lisa, for doing this, and then sharing for all of us to enjoy. Marvelous!

Time well spent and treasured by all who were recipients of your kindness. My prayers and appreciation for our military and their families.
