Thank You with Lisa

THANK YOU to our VETERANS!

Happy Friday, everyone! Lisa from The Relativity of Paper taking over the blog today and  I'm sharing a few Thank You cards that I created using the easel card from the SDS Halloween Soiree Kit and the Stars and Stripes card from the JGW Stars and Stripes Card Kit. 

Using the Stars and Stripes card components I created a shaker card filled with red and blue sequins and white seed beads. The striped layer from the Stars and Stripes card makes creating a shaker super simple and the easel card base really shows it off. These two files work beautifully together. I used the Thank You sentiment from the My Hero Kit.

The second card I made I did a little stamping using stamps from my stash and components from the SDS Halloween Soiree Easel Card, the cardbase and a few of the layers for matting. Even though this is from a Halloween Kit it makes a perfect cardbase for all your easel cards.

The End of The Journey of Seventy Boots with Lisa

Hi and welcome, everyone! Lisa from In The Crafting Cave with you today!  Last year I was asked to create a few centerpieces for A Warriors On The Water Committee Dinner to be held at my parents home. So I created five of these fantastic JGW MY Hero 3D Combat Boots stuffed them with white shredded crinkle paper and inserted two American Flags. These five boots turned into 75 boots when I was asked to create 70 more for this year's Icebreaker held here at Sports, USA - Ft. Bragg, NC. 

 Warriors On The Water is a Military Appreciation Bass Fishing Tournament. It's a day when 150+ Soldiers are paired with Bass Fishermen to spend a day fishing and a chance to win some fabulous prizes. Even more than that, it is a day that someone says to them..."Thank You for your sacrifices!".

The Icebreaker is held on the Wednesday night before the Friday Tournament. It's a night of fun for the Military Men and Women who attend as well as for our volunteers and fishermen. They expect over 400 people to be in attendance and will have guest speakers from the Military representing all branches whose troops are fishing the event.  The fishermen will be paired up with their Military counterparts and have a chance to talk strategy for the big tournament on Friday.

So this is where the 75 boots come into play. They are centerpieces for all the tables at the Warriors on the Water Icebreaker. WOW, literally! It was such an honor to make these boots knowing, personally, what our service members endure every day whether their home with loved ones or stationed/deployed around the world. 


4 - 8 hour days of cutting.

56 hours to assemble. 7 - 8 hour days.

The boots were a huge hit! I think a few walked off, but that's okay, too.

The Journey of Seventy Boots with Lisa

I want to start today's post with thank you!  Thank you to all the veterans 

who served and continue to serve this country, I am forever grateful to you. 

Lisa from, The Crafting Cave, sharing The Journey of Seventy Boots 

with you today. This past August, I was asked to make a few table decorations 

for a Warriors on the Water Committee Dinner that was held at my parents home. So I let the wheels turn and decided I would use the 3D Combat Boot Box from JGW My Hero Collection.  I made five of the boots.

I used Kraft Paper to create the boot, bakers twine for the laces, black and grey cardstock to make the dog tags. My intention was to add these mini flags to the boots and I love the way they turned out. 

Here's where the story becomes interesting! 

I get a phone call the evening of the dinner from my mom that went something 

like this: 

Mom: "Hey, whatcha doin?"

Me: Nothing, why?

Mom: "Everyone really likes the boots.

Me: Good, I'm glad.

Mom: They need 70 MORE! 

Me: 70? Okay.

And this is the beginning of the journey. The way I see it, one of two things will play out.

I will make the seventy boots or I will lose my mind in the process! Either way, it's for 

an amazing cause. For one day, a returning soldier from Iraq and/or Afghanistan is offered a full day of bass fishing in a tournament, hence the name, Warriors on the Water. The 3D Combat Boot Box couldn't be more perfect for this.

I have plenty of time, they aren't needed until April and I already have five made!
