Celebrate Winter Birthdays

Tracy here from Idea Closet. I hope you had a very nice Christmas and a great start to the new year.

I don't like winter ,and I really don't like the cold, but January and February are full of birthdays at our house so we still have lots of celebrating to do.

To get started on the birthday card list, I made two winter cards to help celebrate.

The first card is the Sled 3D Gift Card Holder and is part of the JGW Made of Snow Collection
I love this card and it is super easy to put together.
On the underside of the sled is an envelope to hold a gift card.
Makes a great gift, big or small for someone special.
I used wood printed paper for the top of the sled and then tied red twine to the steering bar.

Next is the Snowman Box Card.
I love box cards because they can be folded flat for mailing and then displayed on a desk or shelf.
I cut the arms and the roof to the house from the same wood printed paper.
To add a little interest to the Snowman I added glitter to the bottom of each panel.
I also chalked up the cheeks a little bit.
To finish my little snowman, I tied a scarf around his neck using the same red twine.

Both cards together would make a great little gift or use them separately.

Thank you for joining me today and stay warm.

Snow Flurries ahead

Hello all I-team member Sonja here with my latest project. Really the only part of winter I look forward to is when I get to pull my snow globes out! In honor of them, I decided to make this snow globe from the JGW Snow Flurries set with a little extra kick to it at the end.
JGW Snow flurries
When I saw the globe, I knew right away that I wanted to do the snowman in vellum. However, vellum can be a little tender to work with if glue is involved. To prevent the vellum from shriveling up, I wanted to use my tape gun to adhere the hands. But then, *light bulb*, hello I have the Xyron Sticker Maker! I use this little handy dandy object for small projects just like this.

I ran the arms through the sticker maker
Before peeling off the top layer, I rubbed around each element with a sharp end of a pencil to eliminate any extra tape.
The final project came out well with some added snowflake embellishments.

The bottom of the globe is a box to add any extra goodies to. However, I wanted to add a different kind of goody to it.
On my Christmas globes, many of them have lights and blowers in them. To replicate that, I added a hole to the top plate of the box.
Then I added a little tea light.
