Fish for Father

Hello again - I'm so happy to see you

Today it's all about Father's Day and fishing. These two go together like horse and carriage in most families - just not in mine. I mean my Dad was fond of fishing but my hubby does not want to go anywhere near a pond or hold a rod in his hand (he's so weird) Me, on the other hand, has a great love for fishing. It's so relaxing and exciting at the same time and the quiet around the pond - ahhhh just love it. Only problem I have, is getting the fish off the hook. YUK! I cannot touch the darn thing or kill it. So that's where I need hubby to tag along when we go fishing. My boys are just as screamish as me so that leaves - Dad.

Well I guess I had my own Dad in mind when I decided on making this project. In remembrance of him and all the fishing trips we took in my childhood.

Well enough with the yapping - here comes the good stuff:

Every fisherman (or woman) needs a good basket or Creel to hold the fish he or she catches, and the Fishing Creel 3D Box from SVGAttic's JGW Gone Fishing kit is just the thing.

I made it from AC Cardstock in Latte, Caramel and Coffee along with some silver pearl paper.

I also used Prima Metallic Wax Rich Copper on the edges instead of ink for a fun effect.

The brads, holding the handle and latch, are from Tim Holtz and the latch strap is made of faux leather from Cricut.

One also needs a good tackle box and the JGW Gone Fishing kit has that too:

It's made from AC Cardstock in Mint, Robbin's Egg and Fireberry and decorated with patterned paper from a really old collection by Cosmo Cricket "Snorkel" (just because I loved the fishies)

The edges are inked with Ingvild Bolme Chalk Ink, the brads are from Tim Holtz and so is the tiny tag with the fitting sentiment on it.

Both of these boxes were so easy to make. Just follow the instructions from Jodi here and here.

What's a fisher with out a good hat?

This cute Fisherman's Bucket Hat Favor Box from SnapDragon Snippets is a necesity for the fisher as it holds several hooks, bobber, lure and fly and it can hold treats as well.

I made it from AC Cardstock in Olive, Robbin's Egg, Black, Fireberry, Cranberry, Vanilla and Truffle along with patterned paper from another oldie by Cosmo Cricket "Mr Campy".

I also used some sienna colored eyelets and some scrapper floss in tan and all the edges are inked with Ingvild Bolme Chalk Inks. The tag is one I made using the Print 'n Cut function on my Silhouette Cameo.

This one is a bit more tricky to make but not difficult at all - just more parts to keep a hold of.

How about the Fisherman himself?:

This good looking fellow is the Fisherman Canister from SVGAttics JGW Summer Canisters kit. He is made from AC Cardstock in Olive, Caramel, Mint, Coffee, Robin's Egg, Peacock, White, Vanilla, Black, Fireberry, Cranberry, Rosebud, Blush, Latte and Leaf along with patterned paper from the "Mr Campy" collection and Tungsten Bling Cardstock from Bazzill.

I also used eyelets on the hat and scrapper floss to hang the bobber on his vest and all edges are inked with Ingvild Bolme Chalk Inks.

Super fun and super easy to make.

Finally, to top it all of, is a card:

This card is also included in the JGW Gone Fishing kit from SVGAttic and is called "Fishing Vest Card"

I used AC Cardstock in Caramel, Truffle, Coffee, Cranberry, Fireberry, Black and Vanilla along with patterned paper from the "Mr Campy" collection and Tungsten Bling Cardstock from Bazzill.

I was lazy (in reality I'm just really horrible at sewing) and drew the stitches onto the vest instead of sewing them using my Silhouette Cameo sketch pen.

All edges are inked with Ingvild Bolme Chalk Inks and dots are from Prima.

Luckily I managed to get the Fishing Pole 3D Magnetic Toy done too:

Originally I had all the other things done but then I saw Jodi had made this magnificent Fishing Pole and I just couldn't bear it not being a part of this Father's Day set. The most cool thing about this one is that it actually works….Even my teenager is impressed!!!

It's made from AC Cardstock in Fireberry, Coffee, Black, Cranberry and Vanilla along with the patterned paper from the "Mr. Campy" collection. The grip overlay is made from Tungsten Bling Cardstock from Bazzil along with the outer most layer of the left and right wheel layer.

Check out the assembly tutorial here

The Bobber is made from two halves that I glued together and wrapped some black washi tape around the middle.

This is a very fun project to make. I really love how Jodi's head works and how she makes her ideas come to life. Such cool mechanisms.

There you have it - the whole chabang (minus the Fishing Pole):

I'm pretty sure my Dad would have loved this set and I really hope that you do too. I think I have to go out and find a Dad, that loves fishing, and give him this set - know anybody?

Thanks for stopping by today. Father's Day is celebrated in Denmark on June 5th which is also our Constitution Day so a few days ahead of the US. So Happy Fathers Day to you on the 17th of June.

Tools and Candy for Dad

Tracy from the Idea Closet.  Thank you for joining me!
Today I have this fun project from SVG Attic.

This candy box, in the shape of a tool, is perfect for Father's day or to wish anyone who loves tools a happy birthday.

The file, JGW Tool Time, can be found at Snap Dragon Snippets and Jodi's Step by step instructions are very easy to follow.

For my project, I embossed the black layer with my Big Shot and then instead of adding the paper screws, I used some brads with screw heads.
I love how it finished the design.

The file also comes with a tag that can be printed, stamped or hand written.
I tied the tag with some twine around one of the screw head brads.

Such a fun little gift.

Be sure to check out SVG Attic at Snap Dragon Snippets today and thanks for joining me.

Three Father's Day Cards with Beth

Happy Monday morning!  Beth from Beth's Beauties here with these three Father's Day cards.  They are all very different, but all the files come from the SVG Attic Cards For Dad set.
Card #1 will be for my boys to give to my husband.  I thought it was a really fun style!  Products used include:  DCWV Copper Luxe stack, plain cardstock, Totally Pumpkin and Totally Black Trendy Twines and silver brads.
Here is a close up.
Card #2 will be going to my dad, a farmer!  I decided the card style was perfect to make an eclipse card, so I stamped several images from Raisin Boat's Homegrown stamp set onto my paper and watercolored it with Distress Inks in Walnut Stain, Fired Brick, Salty Ocean, Old Paper, Moved Lawn, Mustard Seed, and Weathered Wood.  Once it was totally dry, it was time to cut the card front!
I didn't use the original shadow cut layer under the "dad" word.  Instead I cut apart the card base and used the front part as the shadow.
Here is the finished product!  I went around the "dad" cuts with tan chalk ink to help them stand out a little more and popped them up with foam tape.  I really LOVE how this one turned out!
Last, but not least, card #3 is for my father-in-law.  This one was pretty straight forward.  I used papers from DCWV's Treasures stack and popped the "DAD" up with foam tape.  The solid colored words are actually cut from scraps of vinyl.  It was so simple to use that because you automatically have the right letter spacing and adhesive on it, so it is ready to add to the card immediately.  The only embellishment was silver brads.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Father's Day Inspiration with Lisa

Hi and welcome, everyone! Lisa from The Crafting Cave sharing a few Father's Day projects with you. While doing a little organizing in the cave, I came across this paper and knew I had to use it. I think it pairs perfectly with the SVG Attic SDS Love You Daddy Collection.  I used the Trifold Tie & Envelope along with the Tie Gift Box. This set offers some amazing pieces that include a Golf Bag and Box Card with fun elements.

Father's Day Cards and Tie Shaped Gift Box

I love the colors and patterns for guy projects!

Father's Day Cards and Tie Shaped Gift Box
These make great gifts for the guys in the office, too!

Father's Day Cards and Tie Shaped Gift Box
These projects are easy to create. If you're in a hurry or a beginner, these files are fabulous. The card is cut and fold. The envelopes are cut, add some adhesive and fold. Could not be any easier, I promise.  The Tie Gift Box takes a little more adhesive and time to assemble but comes together quickly.

You can find more details on my blog, The Crafting Cave.

As always, thanks for joining us and we hope you have a fantastic weekend

Fishing Fun

Fishing Fun For  Fathers  Everyone!

My dad was an outdoors man!  He loved it, year around he was outside.
His favorite was fishing.
He taught his sons to fish.
He took my mom fishing on their honeymoon.
He also taught his 4 girls to fish.

When I grew up, I married a fisherman and he has taught not only our son but our 5 daughters as well to love the sport.

When I saw these fishing files I just couldn't resist making them.

This fishing vest is great for fathers day, birthday (or even mother's day?)
It is a large card with lots of fun details and even comes with its own envelope.
Add some brads for the buttons and a little kite string tied to the hooks.
Perfect!
Lets see I need one for my husband, one for my father-in-law and one for my son-in-law.

The jumping fish box is made for a gift card but it is big enough to fill  with some
hooks, lures, fishing line,  or other small gift.

I love all the layers that make the fish look so realistic.

Both of the files can be found at SVG Attic in the  JGW Gone Fishing Kit.

To finish it all off how about a fun fishing hat that is actually a box.
The hat comes with a blank tag or one that says dad.
It can be filled with goodies or another small gift.

The 3D fishing hat can be found at Snapdragon Snippets or in the Silhouette Store.

I hope you will try one of these files for your favorite fisherman (er- person).

Nature Father's Day Cards with Beth

Good morning, crafty friends!  Beth from Beth's Beauties here, and I decided to take some time to work on Father's Day cards.
Since I like to think outside of the box, I took elements from non-Father's Day sets to create these.  It just goes to show that the possibilities are endless with SO many SVG Attic files!

For the first card, I used the acorn and leaf file (supposed to be for on a tile or canvas) from the JGW Enchanted Autumn set and added it to a simple card base.  I cut different elements out of different masculine papers from DCWV's Luxe Lodge stack.  The acorns and leaves are popped up with foam tape.  I kept it simple, only embellishing with a bow of Totally Chocolate Trendy Twine.
The second card is actually a combination of two cards from the JGW Pinecones and Holly Card Kit.  The base, panel and evergreen bough are from the tree card.  I just tilted the tree to make it look like a branch.  The pinecone is from that card in the same set.  I added bronze eyelets to bring out the bronze foil accents in the paper (DCWV's Luxe Lodge stack) and wrapped Totally Chocolate Trendy Twine around the pinecone stem.
The white background paper is from DCWV's Embossed White stack.  The stamp I used is from Kaisercraft.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!
