3D Dressmaker's Mannequin

Tracy with the Idea Closet today and I can't tell you how excited I am for today's project!

I love dress forms.  I collect the mini's and have them in my craft room.  They are perfect for hanging jewelry, tags and little cards on, plus they are just fun to look at.

Imagine how excited I was when I saw this beautiful 3D Dressmaker's Mannequin on the SVG Attic site.  Instant LOVE!!!

This is part of the JGW Just Sew collection and the entire set is amazing.

The instructions for putting the Dressmakers Mannequin together  can be found here.
I started with Black card stock and pretty pink and black printed card stock so she would match my craft room.

There are so many fun details to this mannequin and I want to share them all.

First you can make the mannequin as is- without the cage skirt.  Just on its own it is striking.

The base is one of my favorite parts of the Mannequin.  It is wrapped around a wooden dowel and then lots of layers.
I embossed the top decorative layers and not only is it sturdy but very realistic looking.

The Cage Skirt is a perfect addition!
Follow the instructions Jodi has here for the skirt.

And here is a bonus tip for you.

I started on the skirt and realized I did't have any black embellishment so I got out some  left over rhinestones and colored them with a black sharpie marker.

WaLa-- Black rhinestones-- or any color that you need.
(The black sharpie even covered the blue ones)

The skirt file comes with a bustle and a lacing packet for the back.
I added the ribbon around the waist as well.

While working on this project, I kept thinking how pretty if would be with some flowers cascading down the neck and torso.

The G is for Gratitude collection had the perfect flowers I needed.

I scaled the flowers from the gift box down by about 50%, cut them out, inked them, and then layered them.
Place another colored rhinestone in the middle and you have a beautiful flower to finish the project with.

I think the possibilities for this dress form/ mannequin are endless and I will probably use it in countless ways!
