Dusty the Plane Box Card with Beth

Hello all, this is Beth from Beth's Beauties.  My middle son turned 5 this month!  He is really a big fan of the Disney Cars and Planes movies.  This year we decided to go with a Planes birthday theme.  Of course the airplane box card that is in SVG Attic's Flight School kit was absolutely perfect!
I simply used orange, white and a bit of turquoise for the main parts of the plane.
Instead of using vellum for the windshield, I used white paper and made blue and black circles for his eyes.
Can you believe all of the details that are part of this file?  Simply amazing!
Instead of the suitcase that is included in this file, I added a birthday cake :)  I used candles from their Happy Birthday page kit and just cut layers for the cake base out by hand.
Here is a side view of the card that shows more details.
The best part is that it all folds flat so it can be mailed if needed!  Now what little boy wouldn't love to get this in the mail?  I know mine LOVED his!  Here he is with his card and cake I made for his birthday.
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Winter Flurries Candle Holders

When I saw the Winter Flurries Kit I knew I wanted to create these swirls with vinyl and make candle holders.

I used "etched" vinyl and colored it blue with my Blick alcohol marker.

I love all three designs so I used all of them to make three different candles, but you can mix and match or make three of each.  They all work perfectly together.

I also added adhesive rhinestones to add some elegance to the vinyl cut outs.  On the top and bottom of the candle holders I added adhesive rhinestones in a roll. They didn't take long to put together and added ribbon to the bottom.

Here are the closeups of the three candles

And the side and back

I also cut out tiny snowflakes from the Ice Princess Party Pack without any trouble at all, so you can see how well these snowflakes were designed!

If you enjoyed this blog post, please create something awesome and share your projects with on our Facebook SVG Attic page.

Happy crafting y'all!  See you next year.  Have a safe and wonderful end of 2014!

Merry Christmas Sleigh Card with Beth

I personally want to tell each and every one of you Merry Christmas!  What a joyful time of the year!  I have always loved the elegant look of vintage Christmas items and that is the look that I went with on the card I am sharing with you today.
This beautiful sleigh card is from SVG Attic's Sweet Wishes Card Kit.  I kicked it up a notch by adding Holly Berry and Cranberry Trendy Twine bows on the packages and along the curls on the sleigh.  I also added a strip of washi tape along the inside layer to break up the white of the front and inside.  I also added dots of stickles all over the front to resemble snow.
I hope you all have a Blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

Candy Canes in a Jar ~ with Angeline Choo

Hi. It's Angeline here today to share with you this Christmas project I made with the JGW Canning Essentials Kit.

Christmas is just in TWO days time and if you've not made anything, this would be the perfect cute little gift you could gift someone :)

Because mason jars cost a fortune where I am, I LOVE these mason jars that Jodi has designed. The kit came with a short jar and a long jar along with toppers, labels and more. Here, I've used the short jar which also came with a lid.

I chose an aqua blue/green color for the jar and made a tag and tied it with some twine. Then I filled them up with mini candy canes!

I'm getting a sugar rush just looking at this jar. Hehe. :)

Have fun creating and Merry Christmas to all of you!

Christmas Luminary with Beth

Good morning!  Beth from Beth's Beauties with a beautiful project that you could give as a gift or keep as a centerpiece throughout the Christmas season.
This luminary was created from the amazing English Cottage kit at SVG Attic.
The wreath on the side is from the tag that is included in that same kit.  Instead of using a paper bow on the wreath, I used Holly Berry and Cranberry Trendy Twines on it.
The front view gives you an idea of how pretty it looks with the word "NOEL" spelled out in word art.
Here is a closeup of the "O" ornament to which I added the twine bow and stickles.
Last, but not least, here is what it looks like all lit up!  I used two electric LED candles in it.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Winter Wonderland Rosette Wreath ~ with Courtney

Up today I have a rosette Winter Wonderland wreath.

I used the the AC Cardstock Winter Colors paper pack.  I bought the pack here.  The colors are just gorgeous.

I started with a 12" wire wreath that I purchased at Hobby Lobby for less than $3 and built it up from there.

First I layered solid color rosettes from the Falling Leaves kit.  I cut them the size they imported.  They were very easy to assemble.  I used hot glue to adhere them to the wire wreath.  I then cut 6 more rosettes in patterned paper in smaller sizes and adhered those on top.  I used the caption 'Winter Wonderland' from Cozy Christmas Captions.  I added the 3D bow from Winter Wishes, enlarged to the maximum the mat could hold.  The snowflakes are from the All the Trimmings (this set also happens to have the caption I used) and the precious 3D snowmen are from the Candy Cane Lane kit.  I added lots of buttons from my button box.

I hope you like it.

Thank you for stopping by.

Have a fabulously crafty day ! ♥

Santa's Tool Box ~ with Cyndy

I can't believe that Christmas is only eight days away!  For my project today I used the JGW Tools Rule Set.  I needed some stocking stuffers for my boys.  I love the way this Tool Box turned out.  I enlarged the front panel so I could add Santa's with a Stencil font.

3d paper Santa's tool box

I cut the tool box out at the size it imports at.  It is about 4.5 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide.

3d paper wrench and power drill

The tools I shrunk to 4.5 inches long.  They are the perfect size for the little candy canes.  You could even put a chap stick in the wrench and a small chocolate Santa in the power drill.  These will fit perfectly a stocking.  I love the small size.  This  is a quick and easy project that you can complete in a day.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas.  I would love to see what you have been working on for the Holiday season!  Until next year.  Happy Crafting.

Do what inspires you,

Christmas Inspiration!

There are only 10 days until Christmas!  Are you finished with all of your holiday preparations?  If not, here are some past DT projects to inspire you.  Of course, the current team has been creating many wonderful ideas as well and you can view some of their projects HERE if you missed them. Click on the link below the pictures for the project details.

Please note that many of the files used in these projects are not compatible with Cricut Design Space since they are mostly older files from SVG Attic.

Winter Wonderland Wreaths

To get you in the mood for Winter, I created this burlap wreath using The Ice Princess Party Kit snowflakes.  I really like the snowflakes in this kit, so I've been using them to make different projects in different colors of cardstock.  For this wreath I used light blue and dark blue glitter cardstock.

I added the birds nest and the birds because my aunt likes birds so I'll be giving this to her to hang in her window.

This is the very first wreath I've ever done, so I decided to make another one, but instead of birds, I used the snowman from the
Build a Snowman Kit and cut out the snowflakes in gold and silver glitter cardstock using the The Ice Princess Party Kit.

I used white and gold tulle for the scarf and the hat and used small glitter beads for the eyes and the buttons on the body.

Winter still hasn't arrived in El Paso,Texas yet, but the weatherman says we'll have some snow flurries on Sunday so I'm ready whenever it wants to get here.

Happy creating!!

Frosty Penguins ~ with Angeline Choo

Say HELLO to Skipper, Rico, Kowalski and Private :)

OK, so they are NOT the Penguins of Madagascar but I just watched the movie over the weekend and they really inspired me to make this project today. :)

With SDS Frosty Friends kit, it was easy to make these CUTE, almost huggable penguins and the 3D Igloo. They are all sitting snugly underneath my Blue & Silver Christmas tree.

I also took the flag pole that was supposed to be for the igloo and made a sign post instead :)

Here's a close up of the igloo, which I've used some silver glitter paper to decorate it with some glitter.

Have you used this kit? I would LOVE to see what you've made. Feel free to post your projects on SVG Attic's Facebook page HERE.

Have a scrappy week ahead!

Winter Snow Man BirdHouse ~ with Courtney

Today I have a cute project on the blog.

A Winter Snow Man Birdhouse.

I really love the way it turned out.

I started with the Home Tweet Home set and used the 2 story birdhouse.  I cut it exactly as pictured.  I then cut just the head portion of the Classic Snowman from Build A Snowman and attached him to the front.  I did enlarge the Snowman quite a bit to get the look I wanted.  I copy and pasted the same size birdhouse hole into his hat so it would match up perfectly.  I covered up the one birdhouse hole with the face of the snowman.

I just love the way this birdhouse came out.

I hope you do too.

Thank you for stopping by.

Have a fabulously crafty day ! ♥

Sitting Santa ~ with Cyndy

I have to admit I love everything Christmas!  I am one of those people who can hardly wait for Thanksgiving weekend so I can decorate and start playing Christmas carols.  For my post today I am sharing my Sitting Santa.  I made him using the following kits:

JGW Sam the Scarecrow  -  Cut all scarecrow pieces to size (except face)
Winter Fun Photo Props  -  Santa
Cozy Christmas Captions  -  Believe

I love the way he turned out!  My mom thought he was made of wood.

I used the body pieces of the scarecrow ledge sitter and the only thing I changed was the size of the gloves.  I sized mine to 3.360 x 4.144  (make sure to uncheck the keep proportions box.).  I wanted mine to be a little smaller.

3d paper Santa ledge sitter

Fur around pants - Winter Photo Props/Santa  -  Hat top (white) 3.329 x 2.224 (uncheck keep proportions)

For his face and hat I used the Winter Photo Props - Santa file with the following dimensions:

Close up of Santa's face

Hat - 5.682 width (keep proportions)
Glasses - 5.564 width (keep proportions)
Beard - 7.043 x 5.740 (uncheck keep proportions)
Mouth - Basic shapes  - circles - red and black
Eyes - I used the oval from the scarecrow eye
           White - .739
            Black - .543

How I made the hat in Sure Cuts A Lot  -
For the hat I used part of the leg from the scarecrow (the part the curves to make the knee). Shown below is the piece I made (on mat) next to the leg piece (off mat).  I used the back minus front command to cut this piece down.

instructions for assembly

To do this place your piece on the mat and break it apart.  Next select a basic shape (I used a square) and make it big enough to cover the part you want to delete.  Then select both pieces (basic shape and piece to cut) go to Path/back minus front and the part you have under the square should be gone (If it's not, undo and then bring your square to the front and try again).

Instructions for assembly

After you do this you should still have the dashed lines on your mat.

Next select the piece of the leg you have left and copy/paste in place.  Move this piece down using the double arrow to move it down to the last tab.  Select both pieces and go to Path/Union.  Don't worry about the extra dashes, you can just leave them or break apart that piece and delete them.

instructions for assembly

To finish the piece select all pieces and group then uncheck keep proportions and size the piece to 2.157 x 10.091.  This should be big enough to go around the hat just above the ball all the way around.

TIP - for the back of the Santa make sure you flip the hat and hat fur pieces before you cut them so they are a mirror image of the ones on the front, especially if you use a patterned paper.

3d paper Santa ledge sitter - next to Christmas tree

I decided he needed a belt and I used basic shapes to make one.  I used the rectangle and the square frame.

Close up of sign that reads "Believe"

As a finishing touch I used the Believe caption from Cozy Christmas Captions.  I sized the width to 9.021 (keep proportions) and used some cute clothes pins I found at Michaels in their dollar bin a few weeks ago.

And there he is my Sitting Santa.  I would love to see your version of the sitting Santa!

Merry Christmas,
Cyndy G
