Singing in the Rain

Way back when I was a little girl, I used to watch old musicals videos (Betamax) at my Grandma's house. I loved those old movies with the singing and dancing - they made it look like the most natural thing in the world. Having a bit of heartache? - Sing it out! Feeling happy? - Show it in a dance!
The one movie that is still very clear to me, is Singing in the Rain with Gene Kelly. Man! He could dance and sing! And that great scene where he is doing just that in the rain - amazing! I later on learned that with Gene there were usually no second takes. He just went in, did his thing and voila - perfect. That is not something you see nowadays! Sorry....I'm rambling!
This glorious movie is what came to mind when I saw the cute new Umbrella 3D hanging Ornament from SnapDragon Snippets.

I made it in AC Cardstock in Vanilla, Black, and Charcoal and added panels made from Graphic 45 patterned paper "Vintage Hollywood" collection and wood grain embossed AC Cardstock in Kraft for the handle. I also decorated with some grey enamel dots from My Minds Eye.
I also made one more colorful - the movie wasn't in Black and White.

This one is made from AC Cardstock in Black, Peacock and Charcoal with patterned paper from Graphic 45 "Vintage Hollywood" and wood grain embossed AC Cardstock in Kraft. The dots are from Doodlebug Design.
Well the umbrella can't tell the story on it's own, so I had to make a Lamp Post too. This was a bit more tricky but I ended up deciding on the post from the Carousel Centerpiece by Cyndy Gustashaw also from SnapDragon Snippets.

I made it from AC Cardstock in Black, Vanilla and Banana and added some self-made embossed panels to the base.....

....and to the top. I made an extra piece for the Lamp glass to rest on. This is made from the bottom piece of a coin from the Gold Coin Boxes that I glued shut and added a narrow panel strip which I embossed. Just to make it look a bit more like the real thing.
I also added two extra segments in the top ball (Lamp Glass) to make it more round.
Finally I added Gene - or a Silhouette of Gene Kelly (that I found online and traced) onto the Lamp Post and the scene is set:

I seriously wish I had access to a professional photo studio so I could add a backdrop  and maybe some rain....maybe next time.
Thanks for joining me today - I hope you like my wacky idea. It was so much fun to make.
