First Communion Cards with Beth

This year I have a niece and a nephew making their First Holy Communions.  I knew without a doubt that I wanted to use the card from the Full Of Grace set at SVG Attic for their cards.  It is gorgeous and meaningful, not to mention perfect for the occasion.
I want to show you the pink card first.  It happens to be my favorite of the two even though they are so similar.
Here is a closeup of the bottom part of the card where I wrapped embroidery floss around it, added a charm from the Christian Charms set.  I added glossy accents to the charm to make it more eye-catching.  The sentiment is one I printed from my computer and hand cut the banner.  Finally I added gold stickles dots on either side of the banner.
This is the blue card version.  The only difference is the shading on the background paper (The Luxury Stack by DCWV), the color of embroidery floss and the style of charm.
This charm is also from the Christian Charms set.  I just thought it was a little more masculine and when the set has that many to choose from, why not?
This is a close up of the chalice.  I embossed it with a damask embossing folder, rubbed versamark over the raised areas then used gold embossing powder on it.  Then I highlighted certain areas with a gold permanent marker.  I also used a lot of tan and brown chalk ink and some white gel pens to create dimension.
If you know anyone making their First Communion, I hope you will consider using these sets!  As you can see, it really makes a stunning card.

Have a wonderfully crafty day!

G is for Gratitude: Apple Core Storage Box

Hello Crafters! Allie here from My Card Party sharing a new project with you today that's practical and fashionable.

I'm using the Couture line from Graphic 45. I love this line for its fun quotes, sewing and fashioned papers, and classic colors. I needed something to hold some every day crafting tools so I looked through the SVG Attic store to see what I could find.

I found the G is for Gratitude kit and thought the Apple Core looked a lot like a spool.

I cut the base out of yellow cardstock and assembled the base. I distressed the base with Claret StazOn and Peanut Brittle Luxe ink (Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko) and a little bit of white paint. I sealed it up with some Shimmer Texture Goosebumps. I added the scroll liner cut from Couture paper and embellished with flowers and twine, some pins and bling. I tucked two of the cards from this paper line.

One card reads "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous" and the other reads "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different." Both quotes are fantastic, and are by Coco Chanel, one of my favorite fashion designers of all time!

Make A Wish!

Hello! It's Melissa with My Watermelon Moon!  Today I am sharing a project from the Make a Wish kit.  Birthday cards are always handy to have about, even better when you make one special for someone.  I had a special someone in mind when I made this card.  Today is even her birthday!  I put this together with some of my favorite papers. I embossed the top panel with my Cuttlebug, and I wanted some extra layers so I created them on my Silhouette.  I hope you enjoyed today's project, and I can't wait to share more SVGAttic fun with you soon!

Welcome Spring ~

Hi ~ it's me, Courtney with my first official I-team project.

I love spring.  I love gardening. I love birds.  So what else could I have made??

These darling birdhouse and birdcage gift boxes are from the Welcome Spring Kit found here:

I normally find myself using primary colors, but I opted for this gorgeous paper selection by DCWV called The Sweet Blossom Stack.  The colors are beautiful.

I sparingly embellished as I felt the houses where perfect as they are.

I hope you like the project as much as I enjoyed making them.

They are very easy and fun to put together, but still have the WOW factor we have come to love and expect from SVG ATTIC.

Quick and Easy Easter Cards

Hello, and happy Tuesday crafty friends.  Julie here today from Muddy Paws & Inky Fingers, and I'm so excited to be sharing my first project with you!
As you may know, I work as the activity director at the local nursing home.  I try to make as many cards as I can for each holiday and hand them out to the residents there.  I used the SVG Attic Easter Elements set on all 3 of these cards:

Everything in this Easter Elements set went together very quickly.  Before I knew it, I had three images cut out and cards assembled.  I stamped some appropriate sentiments, added some ribbon, and they were done and ready for the Easter holiday.
Check out the wonderful variety of cutting files at SVG Attic!  I can't wait to start my next project!

Inspiration Team Member- Melissa Lind

Hello!   I'm Melissa Lind of My Watermelon Moon.  I live in beautiful San Diego, California with my beautiful family.  I am a paper crafting addict who doesn't get enough time to work on it.  I'm sure many of you can relate!  I am the mother of a 14 year old daughter and 12 year old son.  I just celebrated my 15th wedding anniversary with the love of my life who supports my crazy passions.  That's true love!  I like to make cards and scrap book pages, but I LOVE to make the 3D paper crafts.  They are definitely my favorite.  I love to make pretty boxes to put gifts in, they always get the biggest smiles.  In addition to paper crafting, I also love to cook, bake, read and my recent passion has been genealogy.  I am lucky and have two grandmothers with lots of information and stories to tell and I love the thrill of the "hunt" to gather more information about our families roots.

            A little more about me~

Places I have lived: Chicago & San Diego.  Basically really only San Diego, and while I love visiting other places, I never want to leave home!

Style: While I appreciate lots of different styles, I usually gravitate toward clean, simple, elegant designs.  Although I am trying to break that habit and try to expand as an artist.

Favorite Project:  Oh, that's a tough one.  I am so excited about each project, they are all my favorites!

To share today I made the well in the Make a Wish kit at SVG Attic.  I love this paper and I like how the project shows it off so well.  I also really love the wishing well, there is some thing magical about them :).

I really look forward to sharing projects and getting to know all of you and I am so glad to be part of the team!  Thank you for letting me share with you and have a fantastic day!

Easter Basket Cards with Beth

Today we are taking a quick break from introducing our Inspiration Team members so you can have a project to be inspired with!  Come back tomorrow to meet our final I-Team member :)

I finished up my Easter cards and wanted to share what I made with all of you!  I decided to make a cute Easter card that features SVG's from SVG Attic's Easter Elements kit.
Three of the eggs were cut at 2" tall and two were cut at 1.5" tall.  I embossed the solid color eggs with embossing folders and I inked around the edges with brown chalk.  For the grass, I sized them at 8" wide, then manually cut them in half, so I had enough grass for two cards from one grass cut.
The basket weave part was all cut with my paper trimmer.  I embossed the horizontal paper strips with a basket weave embossing folder and inked all those edged with tan chalk.  I used a stamp for the sentiment and some of my homemade enamel dots (go to THIS post to find out how I made them).  I wrapped some ribbon around the top of the "basket", added a bow and the front was finished!
I made multiples of these cards, and here you can see the different ribbons that I used on them.
Guess what...SVG Attic has some amazing new files that have just been released too!  I just have to share them with you.  They are gorgeous and would be perfect for spring, Mother's Day or birthdays.  Here they are:

The best part is that through April 17, 2014, you can use the coupon code 5000fans for 15% off of your purchase!  The coupon is in celebrations of SVG Attic reaching 5000 fans on Facebook.  If you haven't already done so, head on over and give us a "Like"!

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

I-Team: Allie Gower

Hello Everyone!

My name is Allie Gower and I create happily in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, home to LOTS of snow, the Vikings, the Twins and the Mall of America! I live with daughter and twin kitties, not far from my son.

Born and Raised:

Born in Ohio, whisked away to New York, and then off to Oklahoma.

Places I've lived:

Do we have time for this? Here goes ... Ohio, New York, Oklahoma, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Texas, California, Florida, Minnesota. Don't ask me for my favorite, I love them all!

Style:

A little eclectic, a lot of color, some whimsy, lots of flowers, and tons of bling. I LOVE to create cards and gifts.

Proudly Designing for:

SVG Attic, Samantha Walker, Die Cut Crazy Magazine, Imagine Crafts, Want2Scrap, Deco Art

My Blog:

My Card Party - Cards, Gifts, Recipes, and more

Favorite Design:

Whatever I'm working on currently, is my favorite! Right now that's Easter. I had just gotten some fun new Summer papers from Echo Park that I was DYING to play with, and fortunately, polka dots are perfect ALL YEAR LONG.

I picked an SVG Attic Fall Kit - Autumn Splendor -  (yeah, I'm making my way through the seasons!) and played with the Bucket file and 3d Mums. I made two buckets... why not?

The first bucket I filled with crinkled paper grass and some adorable carrot eggs I found at my local dollar store. I reinforced the handles by cutting duplicates. I added a little more strength to the sides by nesting white panels behind the patterned paper. I filled the carrots with some Reese's Peanut Butter eggs and I was over the moon to have some leftovers. I polished those off! This bucket is for a friend's little man.

On my second bucket (fashioned the same way), I created 8 mums and matching leaves, and hot glued them to pen caps. I chose to attach them to the caps so if the pens wear out, they can be put on new pens. I made this for the bookkeeper's office at work, where they can never seem to hang on to their pens - these bloomin' pens will most definitely be returned now!

The centers are dotted with matching paper and punched with an Epiphany Crafts Punch. I used an Epiphany acrylic circle on top as well. The leaves were coated with Shimmer Texture Goosebumps and then inked with StazOn ink. This makes them shiny, a little more realistic, and a little more durable.

While I had this fun patterned paper out, I pulled out the SVG Attic Hop To It Kit and used the bunny head, eliminating the body and basket. Was it the Red Queen who was always threatening her subjects with "Off with his head" ??? I promise, it was painless!

I used the Offset feature in the my Silhouette Studio software to outline Bunny's head and ears. I  inked the edges and his ears with Radiant Neon Electric Coral ink. I doodled some accents with a Memento marker. I added whiskers with some craft wire sandwiched between two pieces of scrap paper and some hot glue. I think nobody will be pulling off his whiskers any time soon. I used a little Shimmer Texture Goosebumps on his nose - healthy rabbits have shiny noses, right?

I finished Bunny off with a bow - bits of twine tied together with a pretty little paper flower and matted him on some more patterned paper on a matching cardstock card base. This card is for my assigned patient in the Chemo Angel's program. I hope she likes it!

Don't be afraid to use seasonal kits all year long, or take bits and pieces from other kits and try something new. You might just be delighted!!!

I'm excited to meet all of you and share my obsession love of digital die cutting!

Thanks for joining us today.

Introducing Inspiration Team Member: Courtney Lega

Howdy from Texas !

HI ~ I'm Courtney and I am the newest member of SVG Attic's I-team.

I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.

I was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina.  Moved to Texas at the age of 2.

I come from a loving and devoted family of 5. Mother and Daddy, my two sisters and me.  Our mainly girls only family expanded with a bunch of boys.  I've been married for 25 years, to my very own prince charming, and we have a darling little boy, Jack, 10 years old.

I have crafted for as long as I can remember.  I scrapbook, and love to make cards.  My passion of late, is making 3D paper crafts.  So imagine my excitement when I applied and got on the SVG ATTIC I-team.  A dream come true.

My crafting style is whimsical and bright.  I like things clean and crisp and I always lean towards papers that are primary.

One of my favorite SVG ATTIC projects is:

This is from the Here's to You Dad collection.

Inspiration Team Member: Julie Odil

Hello, everyone! My name is Julie Odil, from Muddy Paws & Inky Fingers.   I am brand new to the SVG Attic design team (inspiration team), and I'm very excited to be here!
I began blogging a little over 2 years, and it has totally changed my life.  Then, about 18 months ago, I bought a Silhouette to celebrate my first ever design team acceptance.  Well, it was one of the best purchases I've ever made!  I've had sooooo much fun with Silhouette and SVG files.  3D projects are generally my favorites, but I'll make whatever strikes my fancy.
A little about me:
I live in a small resort community in NW Wisconsin.  The town is so small, we don't even have a stop light!
I work full-time as the activity director/music therapist at the local nursing home.  I've been there for nearly 29 years now and I LOVE my job! My husband and I have 2 Golden Retrievers. One of them goes to work with me everyday.  She's far more therapeutic to some of the residents than I will ever be.
Born and raised:  50 miles south of where I live now.  I haven't ventured too far from home.
Places I've lived:  Eau Claire, WI (where I was born), Chetek (my current home town), Minneapolis, MN (where I went to college and got my first job), St. Cloud, MN (second job out of college), Newark, NJ (internship).
Crafting Style: eclectic.  Although I'm generally clean and crisp with my projects and lines, I never know when I'll try something else and really get inky.  I love stamps and use them on almost every project I make.  I also love paints -- both watercolor and acrylic.
My favorite SVG Attic project:  I purchased quite a few SVG Attic files in January and February of this year.  I love the sets and the variety in the sets.  Here's a step card I made with the "All at Sea" set.

Introducing Inspiration Team Member Beth Fiscus

Hello everyone!  My name is Beth Fiscus.  I have been a part of the SVG Attic design team for the better part of a year, so I have used a LOT of their wonderful designs!  I have stepped to the Inspiration Team Coordinator position and hope to share my love of these files with the rest of the new team and all of you.  My personal blog is Beth's Beauties and I'd love for you to stop by for a visit sometime!
I have a wonderfully supportive husband, who encourages me to be creative!  We live in a small town of 600 people, where everyone knows everyone else :)  We have three very energetic boys, ages 7, 4, and 20 months old who definitely keep me busy!  For the most part, I am a stay at home mom, but I am a nurse by occupation and I work in a local nursing home 1-2 nights per week.

Here is a little bit more about myself...
Born and Raised:  Nebraska- I grew up on a farm where I learned so very much about family, religion, hard work and dedication.  It is also where I was taught how to sew and do hand embroidery at the age of 5, which planted the seed of creativity in my heart!
            Places I've Lived: NEBRASKA
Style: I can't say that I have a specific style.  I love elegant and fancy things, but I create with all different mediums, vinyl, paper, fabric, wood, the list goes on and on.
Favorite Project:  My anniversary heart gift box.  It was my first SVG Attic DT project and to this day, I still love it!

Here is a close-up of those roses that I love so much!
If you want to see more pictures and all the details on this box, here is a link to my original post with all that info in it:  Anniversary Heart Box.  The kits I used for this box are Heart Shaped BoxBe MineFall Harvest Favor Boxes, and Erin's Scalloped Trims.

Let's Get Acquainted: Jodi G. Warner

Hello. My name is Jodi G. Warner, and I am the third design core member of the SVG  team. My collegiate degree and training is in textiles & design, and for the past 30+ years I have been a professional quilt maker, pattern designer and teacher. (You can find my quilting project patterns here.)

After much coaxing by designer daughter Kenzie, I agreed to do some styling and blog posting for her other venture, SnapDragon Snippets (SDS).  I began to envision ways to use cut designs for decorative projects. Pictured above is one of several 3d letter box ensembles I completed using SDS designs. You can view other projects and inspiration at my blog: http://needlesnknowledge.blogspot.com/

In late 2012 my "blogger" status was re-evaluated. I was invited to get training, then join the Daley team as a regular designer. HEAVEN! My stylings incorporate elements from my previous applique and patchwork projects, but I also specialize in unique cards, 3d boxes and vinyl word art.  I retire at night thinking of my next designs, and wake up early eager to fire up my laptop and get started. (I work best early in the morning - a throw-back to a time when my 3 young children would still be asleep.) Here is one of my favorite 3d box designs (to be made available soon through SVG Attic).
I live in the beautiful intermountain west where we celebrate all FOUR seasons. The view out my studio window includes a golf course mini-lake, a broad valley, and three-sided mountain horizon. I have also lived in Missouri (graduate school) and in Paris, France (study abroad). Our family includes husband, one daughter and two sons, and four of the world's most amazing grand kids.

Looking forward to sharing designs and ideas for the most fun paper crafting on the planet!

Saturday, April 5, 2014

Greetings Everyone!  We have some big news around the corner as we roll out the new inspiration team (I-team).  We had some great applicants and I know that you will be very inspired by the fun projects they create.  So let me tell you a little more about who we are.

Our names are Kenzie and Mike Daley.  We are owners and designers for Snapdragon Snippets and SVG Attic.  We have been in business since 2009 and have 3000+ designs.   We have been sharing them mostly on Silhouette Online store.  We currently live in the Houston area of Texas with our 4 small kids ranging from 7-3 (two boy/two girls).  As you can guess we are pretty busy.

Kenzie
            Born and Raised:  Utah
Places I've Lived:  Utah, Michigan, California, and Texas
Style   Sparatic, a little bit of everything (3D, 2D, cartoony, realistic, elegant, and everything else)
Favorite Design- 3D Stilleto Shoe  (Still coming)

I am a graphic designer who has dabbled in just about everything from painting, to jewelry, to digital and the list goes on.  Most of my time is spent wrangling small children.  When they finally go to bed is when I find most of my creativity.  I'm a night owl and it isn't uncommon for me to work late into the night.  I love making fun projects and look forward to showing off many more of them on SVG Attic in the near future.

Mike
            Born and Raised:  Arizona
Places I've Lived:  Arizona, Utah, Argentina, Michigan, California, and Texas
Style   Mostly 3D,  I try to stick with Manly stuff, I'm not always successful
Favorite Design- 3D Biplane  (Don't worry it will be coming soon).

I am a Mechanical engineer by trade and currently work full time at the Railroad (yep I still play with trains).  I started with Kenzie helping her with the math and geometry of 3Ds.  I'm a functional guy while Kenzie helps me make them stylish.  She balances me well.  I handle most of the business end and customer service. I look forward to work with the great inspiration team and helping to put out many more wonderful kits.

Flourished Cross Easter Card with Beth

I know that Easter is right around the corner.  For some reason, I haven't been in the card-making spirit very recently, but I know I need to make Easter cards for my family.  I decided to make a card using a technique that I have loved ever since seeing it online in many places, but haven't created it yet myself.  The sunburst/starburst technique.  I also try to make religious Easter cards to reflect the true meaning of Easter.

For my card, I decided to go with an understated elegant look.  I struggle with that sometimes since I love to embellish so much!  But for this card I didn't want to take away from the scene I created by adding too many embellishments.
The focal point of the card is a gorgeous flourished cross that is from SVG Attic.  As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for this card.  Plus the set of 3 flourished crosses is only $0.99, what an awesome deal!  I created a blackout shadow of it in my cutting software and cut them with the shadow being 3" tall.  For the sunburst background, I took random patterned papers in the yellow/orange/burgundy hues to mimic a sunrise.  If you are not familiar with how to make that, you can use THIS tutorial that I used.  To add to the background focal point, I hand cut a yellow semi-circle of cardstock to look like the sun.  I also inked the edges of my papers with brown chalk ink to add definition.
To finish it off, I added white rumpled ribbon, a stamped sentiment and three white enamel dots that I made myself out of mini pony beads.  I simply preheated my oven to 375 degrees, added parchment paper to a metal pan and placed the beads, hole facing up on the paper.  I baked them for 25 minutes and they turned out so perfect :)

If you haven't seen the Easter kits that SVG Attic has released lately, you are missing out!  Here are the pictures and links to them so you can go see them in detail.
